Mrs. Leola P. French, daughter of the late Mary and John Porter was born in Macon County, Montezuma, Georgia November 2, 1923. She departed life here on earth, Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Montezuma Healthcare Center.
Leola attended the Flint River Farms School in Montezuma and later married Nells French, who preceded her in death. She spent most of her adult life in Brunswick, Georgia where she was employed by Glynn County Board of Education.
One of seven siblings, four preceded her in death: Ella P. Davis (Moot), Catherine Porter, Gentral Porter (GP) and John W. Porter (J.W.). She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her sister, Mary P. Haslewood of Dayton, Ohio; brothers: Ronnie Porter (Dianne) of McDonough, Georgia and Donald Porter of Montezuma, Georgia; step-brothers and step-sisters: Frederick Jackson, Albert Jackson, Landis Ogburn and Emma Jackson all of Montezuma, Georgia and Bernice Jackson of Bronx, New York; two devoted nieces: Joan Haugabook and Katheryn Simmons; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
