                      OBITUARY

Mr. McArthur Colbert

 “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning”

Psalm 30:5

 

Mr. McArthur Colbert was born in Americus, Georgia on January 27, 1943 to the late Mr. Charlie Colbert and Mrs. Mary Ellen Colbert. He received his education from the Old Shady Grove School in Sumter County, Georgia. At an early age, McArthur accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined the Old Shady Grove Baptist Church.

For 50 years, he was employed with Gray Ready Mix USA as a truck driver. He retired in August of 2008.

On Sunday morning, June 14, 2009 at the HCA Palmyra Medical Center, Our Heavenly Father called our beloved McArthur to a mansion in the sky that he had prepared just for him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Michael Colbert, and a sister, Mrs. Bennie Ruth Alford.

His warm smile, the wisdom of his years, and his love for his family and friends will live on in the lives of the people that he touched. McArthur will be sorrowfully missed, yet celebrated and remembered by his devoted companion of 35 years, Ms. Delois Angry; a loving son, Mr. Antonio (LaShanta Wade) Colbert; the joys of his life, his grandchildren, TreDarrian Antonio Lamar, Jr., Jakivius, Sierra, Antonio, and Simone Colbert; all of Americus, Georgia; three stepchildren, Mr. Eddie (Vanessa) Gore of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Valerie (LaKista) McCuller and Mr. Darrol Gore both of Americus, Georgia. Two brothers, Mr. Charlie (Mary) Colbert of Orlando, Florida and Mr. Willie (Ernestine) Colbert of Andersonville, Georgia; one sister, Ms. Came Robuck of Royston, Georgia; six step- grandchildren that he loved dearly, Jonathan, Kennedy, and Sanova Gore of Atlanta, Georgia, LaKista, II, Myla and JaKobe McCuller of Americus, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Mr. Jack Alford of Americus, Georgia; one devoted niece, Mrs. Eddie Mae King; two special friends, Mr. Lee Kleckly and Mr. Armick Oliver of Americus, Georgia; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
