Obituary

On Monday, March 22, 2010, God summoned His Heavenly angels to Emory Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia to the bedside of Deacon Tyrone Brown and peacefully guided him into eternal rest.

Tyrone Brown, was born August 25, 1957, the sixth child born to the late Reverend Lonnie Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Ruth Whitfield Brown in Macon County, Montezuma, Georgia. He was a 1975 graduate of D.F. Douglas High School, Montezuma, Georgia; Tyrone matriculated at Fort Valley State College (University) and received a Bachelor of Art degree.

Tyrone began serving the Lord at a very young age at Brown Chapel Baptist Church where he remained a faithful and dedicated member the duration of his life; he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, and a member of the Finance Committee.
He served faithfully throughout community churches as well.

On December 11, 1993, Tyrone was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Dorothy Burke and this union was blessed with two children. Tyrone worked many years at Macon County Board of Education, West Central Georgia Community Action Agency, Americus Probation Office, and Taylor County DFCS until he retired.  “Tyrone, A Man of God”: Tyrone was a man of humility, bravery and courage: The bible says that a Christian is someone who has found the way of life rather than the way of death.  That way to life is found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  Tyrone was a Christian man whose heart was motivated by God’s love and his mind was guided by God’s truth. Obedience is the essence of subordination: Tyrone, a man of God, truly subordinated to Christ and obeyed His word, the Holy Bible.  Tyrone was a mentor, counselor and friend to his wife, children, grandson, as well as his entire family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Lonnie Brown, Sr. and sister, Ruth Ann Jordan. He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife, Dorothy Brown of Montezuma, GA; two children, Lamond Tookes and Carmen Tookes both of Warner Robins, GA; one grandson, Camron Sutton of Warner Robins, GA; a devoted mother, Annie Ruth Whitfield Brown of Montezuma, GA; siblings, Reverend Bobby Brown (Flora), Ruben Brown (Crystal) all of Fort Valley, GA, Reverend Lonnie Brown, Jr. of Andersonville, GA, James Brown (Treny) of Montezuma, GA, Donald Brown of Warner Robins, GA, Rodney Brown  of Montezuma, GA, and Teresa Brown Hannor of Oglethorpe, GA; aunts and uncles, Dollie Larry West,  David Larry and Willie Thomas all of Montezuma, GA and Billy Journey (Delores) of Atlanta, GA; great uncles and aunts, Clifford Brown (Lottie), Mary Lizzie Brown, Ophelia Larry, Onnie McCoy (Mary) and  Bernice Brown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alice Gordon (Johnny), Lizzie Burke, Henry Burke, Eddie Burke (Denise), Leatha Barner, Bobby Burke, Catherine Taylor, Josie Thomas (Keith), Yvonne Bryant, Gloria Clowers and Charlene Tookes (Milton); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
