Owens, Officiating Second Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Cleveland, OH Obituary “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4) Mr. Ronald D. Porter better known as “Ronnie D” was born April 23, 1937 to the late Mary and John Porter in Montezuma, (Macon County) Georgia. He was one of seven siblings, five preceded him in death. Ronnie attended the Flint River Farms School in Montezuma Ga. At an early age he moved to Miami where he was employed by Jai-Alai and the Dade County Board of Education where he worked until he retired. In 2005 he moved back to Georgia and made McDonough, Georgia his home. On Saturday, July 4, 2009 God said “take your rest” as Ronnie passed from labor to reward at his home. Left to cherish the memory is his wife of 30 years, Dianne B. Porter of McDonough, Georgia; one sister, Mary P. Haslewood of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Donald Porter (Rochelle) of Montezuma, Georgia; three children; Ronnie James Porter (Amanda) of Monroe, Louisiana, Mildred Porter of Montezuma, Georgia and Demetrius Bonner (Shawn) of McDonough, Georgia; one God-daughter, Nikki Johnson (Verle) also of McDonough, Georgia; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Tessie Knowles (Carlton) and Denise Traylor; Mother-in-Law, Adeline Jackson, all of Miami, Florida., Step-Mother-in-Law, Lillie Joe Butler of Pompano Beach, Florida; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many sorrowing friends.
