Jack Potter was born on February 2, 1925 in Marshallville, Georgia to the late Mariah Willis Allen and John Henry Potter. He was educated in Macon and Bibb Counties. He was a member of the United States Army and a World War II veteran. Jack Potter was a businessman until his health failed. He lived in Boston, Massachusetts and Cocoa, Florida for many years before moving to Jackson, Tennessee. He attended Main Baptist Church.
Jack left Tennessee in 2000 and moved to Montezuma, Georgia due to illness. He departed this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at the Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Potter, sister Louise Willis, daughter Hazel Potter, and son Timothy Potter.
He leaves to cherish his memories, four children, Joyce Potter, Panama City, Florida, Loyce Potter, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jackie Potter and Theodore Potter, Jackson, Tennessee; five siblings: Ozie Charles, Chicago, Illinois, Betty Engram, Montezuma, Georgia, Martha Keller (John), Englewood, New Jersey, Mary Washington (James), Cocoa, Florida, and Charles Allen, Jr. (Mazarena), Montezuma, Georgia; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; a devoted friend, Frank Estes, Montezuma Healthcare Center, Montezuma, Georgia.
