Mr. Edwin B. Breed, Sr. was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Grady H. Breed and Serlena Glover Breed. He received his elementary education in the public school system of Louisville. After the death of his parents, he came to Atlanta, Georgia where he completed his secondary education. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served honorably for four years. After completing his military duties, he completed his studies for a B.S. degree in Public School Music at Morris Brown College and a Master of Science degree in Guidance and Counseling at Ft. Valley State University. He did further study at Atlanta University. His career in music education began at D.F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. He later served as a counselor in the Bibb County Public School System and the Crisp County Public School System. He is survived by his wife, Vivian O. Breed of Cordele, GA; children, Serlena Breed and Edwin Bernard Breed, Jr.; nephews, Gerald Givens and Sedgwick Morrow; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Timothy and Alberta Odom of Montezuma, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ernestine (Tom) Brown of Springfield, Massachusetts, Kitty (George) Harris of Fort Valley, GA, Brenda (Lynwood) Holmes, Frances Odom, Cornelius (Gladys) Odom, and Nathaniel Odom all of Montezuma, Georgia, Gregory (Annie) Odom of Covington, GA and Curry (Alice) Odom of Botavia, NY; a host of cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
