Joseph Clarke, Officiating Obituary For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Henry Thornton, Jr. was born on June 8, 1943 in Lee County GA to the late Grover Henry Thornton and Rutha Alberta Campbell Thornton in Smithville, GA. Henry passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA. “Gangsta”, as he was affectionately called was educated in the public schools of Lee County Ga. At an early age he joined the Mount Pleasant Baptist church in Smithville, GA. He worked as a farmer for a number of years. For those who knew “Gangsta” he was a friendly person and always had a smile on his face and a song to sing. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers, Betsy French, Mildred Thornton, Johnny Thornton, Jimmy Thornton and Grover Lee Thornton. He leaves to cherish his precious memory a loving sister and three loving brothers, Ruby Dean Thornton and Charlie Frank Howzine, both of Smithville, GA.; Lewis Thompson, Jr.(Bonnie) and Herman Thornton, all of Chesapeake, VA.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
