A Time To Be Born

Mr. Lawrence B. Johnson was born on July 11, 1956, in Macon County, Georgia to the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Johnson and the late John Thomas Haugabook.

A Time For Training

He was educated in the public schools of Macon County, graduating from Macon County High School and South Georgia Technical College. He also attended Abraham Baldwin College and several classes at the Police Academy.  

A Time To Serve God & Country

At an early age he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined the Magnolia Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Later he moved his membership to the New Hope Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia. In 1974, Lawrence joined the United States Army and honorably served his country until his discharge in 1977. 

A Time To Marry

On October 15, 1990, he married Vernessa Billings and to this union two children were born.

A Time To Labor

Lawrence was employed for many years at Weyerhaeuser. He was also a Police Officer in Oglethorpe, GA, Marshallville, GA and severed as Chief of Police in Ideal, GA. He was most recently employed at Lesco at Robins Air Force Base.   

A Time to Die

On Tuesday, June 19, 2007 Lawrence moved from his earthly home to his heavenly home at his residence on Duke Road.

A Time To Mourn

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Vernessa Johnson; children: Latrina, Kevin and Keandrea; brothers and sisters: Linda (Elzie) Cephus of Montezuma, GA, Trent (Wanda) Johnson of Peoria, IL, Arthur (Aileen) Johnson of Lakeland, FL, William (Louise) Johnson of Miami, FL, John Thomas (Sandra) Haugabook of Bonaire, GA, John Edward (Tolley) Haugabook of Fort Myers, FL., Tracy Haugabook of Fort Valley, GA, Jerry Haugabook and Thomas Haugabook both of Montezuma, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ida Johnson of Miami, FL, Almeta (Eddie) Ragin of Perry, GA, Marjorie (Chester) White of Jackson, GA, Jeffery (Barbara) Billings, the Rev. Leonard (LaTonya) Billings and Michael (Betty) Billings all of Perry, GA and Robert Wayne (Natalie) Billings of Macon, GA; Godmothers: Doris King of Perry, GA and Emmie Baldwin of Tallahassee, FL; God-sister, Reva Myers of Tallahassee, FL; aunts and uncles: Elizabeth (Willie James) Larry and Elois Nicholson all of Montezuma, GA and J.C. Thornton of Oglethorpe, GA; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
