Fred L. Carter went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2010. After a long journey with cancer he died in his home surrounded with the loving support of his wife and family.   Freddie was born February 10, 1939 in Beaumont, Texas.  He made Flagstaff his home in 1954.  Freddie is preceded in death by his parents Alfred & Margaret Maynard.  Freddie was a US Navy Veteran. For the last 21 years, he has been employed for Sodexho at NAU where he worked as a chef.  Along with pleasing the palates of college students daily, Freddie also enjoyed cooking at home especially for holiday gatherings.  He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carmen Carter, his sons Freddie Jr., (Nisa) Carter of  Madison, WI., Alfred, Donald, Frederick, (Cindy) Maynard, and his brother Frank Maynard of Flagstaff.   Freddie is also survived by his 5 beloved step-children, Mickey Sandoval, Toni Bobadilla, Linda Garcia, Libby Loudon and Ruben Lozano. Freddie was also a loving grandfather.  His loving spirit and gentle demeanor will be greatly missed.
