Frank Robert Sedillo, Uncle Frank, passed away on March 23, 2010, at the age of 60 while being cared for at the Maricopa County Phoenix Hospital.
Uncle Frank is survived by his mother Mary, sister Patricia, and his brother Abel Sedillo. Frank was predeceased by his Father Abel Sedillo, and brothers Robert L. Sedillo and the honorable James “Jim” Sedillo.
Uncle Frank was born on February 18, 1950., He grew up in the Plaza Vieja, the old town of Flagstaff, Arizona. A sibling of five, he graduated from Flagstaff High School and thereafter enlisted in the marines. Frank’s time in Vietnam ended after earning his second purple heart during his second tour of duty. After returning to the United States he was injured by a drunk driver; he never fully recovered from his injuries, but usually seemed to take his situation in stride.
If you grew up or spent some time around Flagstaff over the course of the last 40 years, then it is likely that you knew Uncle Frank directly or indirectly. You likely witnessed him limp along Milton while he was getting his daily exercise, or doing his steps under the overpass, or at the outdoor track and field stadium at NAU. He never lost his passion for exercise even though he could not get around like he once did. Anyone who knew Uncle Frank also knew to beware of his bear hugs and vice-like grip, his scratchy beard, and his appetite for food, drink, and jest. In fact, you may have also seen him sipping on a cup of coffee at Jack In The Box or taking in an ice cream at Dairy Queen.
Frank’s family and friends will honor and remember him Friday, the 26th of March, 2010 with a rosary at 10 am, and a mass at 11 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish..
