Margaret J. (Peggy) Turner died the morning of July 18th at the Aspen House Care Home just 19 days after the death of her husband C. Russell Turner. She was born in San Diego, CA on February 4, 1927. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease seven years ago while living in Green Valley. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Challis and her husband Ron; by her son Tom Turner and his partner Cathy Cox; by her brother, Robert L. smith and his wife Randee, of Bonsall, CA; and her grandson Brandon Turner.
Peggy was a resident of Flagstaff since 1960. She did work as a receptionist for Dr. Kerry marsh, and later for dentist Boyd Tobler after working as a housewife and mother. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority while attending the University of Oregon before marrying Russ in 1946.
In lieu of a memorial or service the family will hold a celebration of life and share memories of a happier time at Lake Powell, October 2nd, 2010. Russ and Peggy lived on a house boat on Lake Powell during the happiest years of their retirement, and the family shared memories of boating on Lake Powell from 1963 when the lake was just filling.
If any one wishes to do something in Peggy’s memory, we’re sure she’d appreciate supporting cure for the terrible disease which took her from her family years before her death by going to www.alz.org and making a donation.
